Tung Wah Hospital,

I have the honour to submit for the information of His Excellency the Officer Administering the Government the quarterly report on the work of the Tung Wah Hospital during the three months, 1st October to 31st December, 1901.

The following table shows the general statistics of the quarter:

The number of Admissions during the corresponding quarter of 1900 was 733, and during that of 1899, 609.

I append a table showing in detail the Admissions and Mortality in the Hospital during the past quarter, with the proportion of cases treated by European and Chinese methods respectively.

Of the 741 Admissions, four were transferred to the Government Civil Hospital for treatment.

Of the fatal cases, 54 were in a dying condition at the time of admission.

There remains a net total of 683 treated in the Tung Wah Hospital, of whom 177 were under European treatment, and 506 under Chinese treatment.

94 dead bodies, 70 male and 24 female, were received into the Hospital Mortuary to await burial. Four of these, and also twelve bodies of persons who died within the Hospital, were sent to the Public Mortuary for internal post-mortem examination.
